World-renowned musician, concert pianist and composer. Holder of Certificate of Honor at the Tchaukovsky Competition (1966), Laureate at the International Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (1968), and Lebanese Medal of Merit (1969), he also received First Prize in the WDEQ-FM Piano Competition in Pittsburgh (1975). The city of San Diego proclaimed Waleed Howrani Day on April 13 (1986).
